Kakuro is the numerical cousin of the crossword. Each run of white cells must add up to its clue using digits one to nine with no repeats in a run, exactly like a little arithmetic crossword. Pencil marks and conflict highlighting carry the bookkeeping. The grid is a fixed 5x5 with 16 cells to fill — there is no board-size menu, so every puzzle is the same size and the only thing that changes is the layout. Each start generates a fresh puzzle and checks it against an independent solver before you see it, and the clock gives you 180 seconds.

Tips & Tricks
- 1A two-cell run has exactly one pair of digits for its sum, so read the short runs first: they are resolved before you spend a pencil mark.
- 2Three cells adding to 6 can only be 1-2-3, because 1+2+3 is the smallest possible triple. That single fact unlocks a run without any guessing.
- 3Digits never repeat inside a run, which means a 9-clue cannot contain a 9 in a two-cell run — the pair has to be 4-5 or 3-6.
- 4The 180-second clock is the opponent, not the puzzle. Pencil marks cost nothing but a wrong digit costs the seconds you spend finding it, so mark before you commit.
Frequently Asked Questions
What do the numbers mean?
Each clue is the sum of the white run it points at. A clue above a column sums downwards, a clue to the left of a row sums across, and the digits one to nine may not repeat within a run.
Is every puzzle solvable?
Yes. Each puzzle is generated from a complete grid, so a solution exists by construction, and it is then re-checked against an independent solver before the board is shown. If the check fails the generator retries.
Is there a timer?
Yes — 180 seconds per puzzle, counted down. The board is the same fixed 5x5 every time, so the clock is one constant you can plan around.
