Soccer Game

Soccer is a one-on-one match on a small pitch: you are the blue striker on the left, the computer is the red one on the right, and there is a single ball between you.

There is no kick button. The ball moves when you touch it, and a touch sends it along the line from your player through the ball, plus the speed you carry into the contact. So the skill is not aiming with a button, it is arriving on the correct side. Touch the ball from the far side and it goes at the goal you are attacking; arrive on the goal side and you clear it for the other team.

The computer plays by the same rule from the other end. It only commits to a loose ball when it can actually win it; otherwise it sits in the lane between the ball and the net it defends, so a straight shot down the middle is a pass to the keeper. Whichever post it has left open is the one to aim at.

The ball keeps about 97% of its speed per tick, so a hard kick crosses roughly a third of the pitch and then dies. Nobody can outrun their own pass, because the ball leaves faster than either player moves, so every kick turns into a loose ball and a race to arrive first. First to three goals wins.
