River Kayak is a calm slalom racer. Paddle left and right to thread the gates, read the current arrows that push you off line, and skirt the rocks in short, replayable runs. Smooth strokes beat panicked paddling. Three runs with five lives each, and the river itself does the pushing: the current carries you at 120 pixels a second while your paddle can only add 190 either way, so a line you enter badly is one you spend strokes correcting.
Controls
- Paddle — Drag left or right on the board, or hold Left / Right (A / D)
- Boost — Hold the Boost button under the board, or hold Up / W
- Pause — P
Tips & Tricks
- 1The current pushes you at 120 pixels a second no matter what you do, and steering only adds 190 sideways — that ratio is why a line corrected late is a line you lose.
- 2The boost is worth 130 and costs you the time to line up the next gate, which is why it belongs on a straight and never through a gap.
- 3Five lives across three runs means a clipped rock is recoverable, but the paddle only works against the current — drifting with it puts you into the next rock faster.
- 4A rock is 16 pixels in radius, so 32 across, against a kayak 22 wide — a gap that looks passable usually is not, and the middle of the channel is the only reliable line.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many lives do I get?
Five, across three runs. Hitting rocks costs lives one at a time, so a sloppy first run does not end the session — but the river speeds up and the gates keep coming.
What does the boost actually do?
It adds 130 pixels a second on top of the current. It is worth using on open water to make up ground, and it is the wrong choice into a gate because the extra speed eats the room you need to steer.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Dragging left or right on the board paddles, and Boost is a button you hold. The old canvas tap added a flat sixteen pixels of downstream travel instead, which was not steering at all and could hop past a rock, because the rock test only runs once per frame.
