How to Play
Word Guess Daily gives you one hidden five-letter word per day and six attempts to find it. Type any five letters and press Enter to lock in a guess. Each tile then reacts: a green tile means the letter is correct and in the right position, an amber tile means the letter exists in the word but sits somewhere else, and a gray tile means that letter does not appear at all. Use the overlaps between guesses to eliminate letters until only one word fits.
The answer is generated from the calendar date, so every visitor sees the same word on the same day — no account and no server involved. Guesses are unlimited in wording: any five-letter combination is accepted, so you can burn a row on letter-hunting if you want. Solving the daily word extends your streak, and the streak counter with your totals is stored locally in this browser.
Prefer unlimited rounds? The Practice button starts a fresh round with a random word from the built-in list, so you can keep playing after the daily puzzle is done without touching your streak.

Tips & Tricks
- 1Open with a word rich in common letters — rows like CRANE or SLATE test the vowels A and E plus five frequent consonants in one go
- 2Green tiles are locked information; rebuild your next guess around them instead of re-testing those positions
- 3An amber tile means the letter exists but not there: move it to a position you have not tested yet
- 4Gray tiles are worth the most — after two guesses you should have eliminated at least eight letters
- 5When several candidates remain, pick the word that shares the fewest letters with the others to split the possibilities
- 6You have six rows, so leave yourself slack: spending three rows on elimination still leaves three rows to win
- 7The streak only advances if you solve the word on the day it is issued — a missed day resets the counter
Frequently Asked Questions
Does everyone get the same word each day?
Yes. The answer is derived from the date, so the daily puzzle is identical for every visitor without needing a server.
Are partial or nonsense guesses allowed?
Any five-letter combination of letters is accepted. The game only colors the feedback; it never rejects a guess for not being a dictionary word.
What happens to my streak if I skip a day?
The streak counter only grows when you solve the puzzle on consecutive days, so a skipped day resets it to zero. Your total wins stay untouched.
Where are my statistics stored?
In your own browser on this device — streak, wins and best result are local. Clearing site data resets them.
How long is a round?
Six guesses at most, which usually takes two or three minutes. Practice rounds work the same way with a random word.
Is there a time limit?
No timer at all. Take as long as you like on each row.
