Letter Drop hands you a target word and rains its letters down, one at a time. Steer each letter into a column and the board fills from the bottom; complete a row that spells the target and it clears for a hundred points, complete a row that spells anything else and you lose a life. Five cleared words wins, three lost lives ends it.
Controls
- Move — Arrow keys or A and D
- Drop — Tap the bottom quarter of the canvas
- Steer by tap — Tap the left or right half to move that way
- Pause — P
Tips & Tricks
- 1The board is exactly as wide as the word — three columns for the first word, four for the second, five for the third, six from the fourth on — so a full row can only ever be the target or a wrong arrangement of it.
- 2The letters come in the order of the word rather than shuffled, so the target's first letter always lands first. That makes the leftmost column the one to get right early and the rest a matter of keeping up.
- 3Every fourth drop is a filler letter that is not in the target at all. A filler in a column you still need is what turns a row into a wasted row, so fillers belong in columns you have already completed correctly.
- 4A column that overflows the eight rows costs a life outright, and so does a completed row that spells the wrong thing. Both failures come from the same source: stacking too high in one column instead of spreading.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does a row score?
Hundred points if the full row reads exactly the target word, and a lost life if it reads anything else. Either way the row is removed and the letters above it fall down.
How long is a round?
Five cleared words wins. The word length grows from three letters to four to five to six, the board widens with it, and the drop interval shortens from 700 milliseconds to 380 by the fifth word against a floor of 320.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. A tap on the left or right half moves the falling letter and a tap on the bottom quarter drops it, so the whole game works by touch without a keyboard.
