Missing Vowels strips the vowels out of a well-known saying and leaves a blank for each one. You fill the blanks left to right, one vowel at a time, either by tapping the A E I O U buttons or by pressing the key. Three sayings make a run, every correct vowel is ten points, and five wrong vowels end it.
Controls
- Fill — Tap a vowel button, or press the letter
- Step back — Backspace clears the last vowel
- Pause — P
Tips & Tricks
- 1The blanks are filled in reading order, so you are never choosing which vowel to place next — only which of A E I O U belongs in the next slot. Reading the consonants before it usually settles it.
- 2A wrong vowel never fills the blank: it costs a strike and the cursor stays put. Five strikes end the run, and strikes are the only failure state — the phrase itself can never be left in a wrong state.
- 3Ten points a vowel with no bonus for finishing a saying quickly, so the score is ten times the number of vowels in three sayings and nothing else. Speed only matters if the clock runs out.
- 4The sayings are common English idioms, which is a hint about length: once you recognise the phrase, the remaining vowels are determined rather than guessed, and guessing is what costs strikes.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many sayings are in a run?
Three, drawn at random from a list of common English idioms. All the vowels in each are blanked, and each correct one pays ten points, so a run is worth ten times the total vowel count of the three.
What happens if I pick the wrong vowel?
The blank stays empty, the cursor does not move, and you take one strike. Five strikes end the run. Nothing else is penalised — a mistake cannot corrupt the phrase.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. The five vowels are drawn as tap targets on the canvas, so the game is fully playable by touch without a keyboard.
