Nine Men's Morris is twenty-four points, nine pieces each, and one rule that never changes: three of yours in a line takes one of theirs. Place all nine pieces first, then slide them along the marked lines, and the game ends when a side is down to two pieces or cannot move at all.
Controls
- Place — Tap an empty point during the placing phase
- Move — Tap your piece, then a connected empty point
- Capture — Automatic when you complete a mill
- Mode — Buttons switch between vs CPU and two players
Tips & Tricks
- 1There are sixteen mills on the board — four along the edges of each of the three squares, plus four that run down the middle spokes — and a mill removes an opponent piece from the board rather than merely blocking it. Removing is how nine becomes two.
- 2A piece inside a standing mill cannot be taken; the capture routine filters those out and picks from everything else. Corner points belong to two mills at once, so a piece on a corner is protected as long as either line is intact.
- 3The placing phase decides most games. Every piece placed is one that never has to be walked anywhere, and a mill formed during placing still captures, so nine placements are nine chances at a free removal.
- 4Once a side is down to three pieces the board gets dangerous: every move can be blocked, and having no legal move loses outright. Counting your opponent's open points matters more than counting your own.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I win?
Reduce the CPU to two pieces, or leave it with no legal move. Both conditions are checked after every move, and either one ends the run immediately.
How many points and mills are there?
Twenty-four points on three concentric squares joined by spokes, nine pieces a side, and sixteen possible mills — four per square plus four down the middle.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Points are tapped directly on the canvas with a generous snap radius, so placing and moving need no keyboard.
